Dr. Martin C. Barnes
Experienced in numerous research projects and specialized in data interpretation, Dr. Barnes excels at applying complex research findings to individualized patient care and is committed to managing the whole patient.
Dr. Barnes is a graduate of Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Arts focusing on Composition and Film Scoring with a Minor in Performance. He is a graduate of St. George’s University School of Medicine and completed a Post-Baccalaureate Medical Pathway Program at the University of Massachusetts in Boston. Dr. Barnes completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Northwell Health in Port Jefferson, New York where he was named Chief of Research. He continued his studies by completing a Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at Northwell Health in New York.
Dr. Barnes is board-certified in internal medicine and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. His clinical interests encompass both benign and malignant hematology, as well as solid tumors, including those in the lung, breast, gastrointestinal tract, prostate, gynecologic, dermatologic, and genitourinary systems. Dr. Barnes has a special focus on managing hematologic malignancies, including lymphomas, acute and chronic leukemias, multiple myelomas, myelodysplastic syndromes, and myeloproliferative neoplasms.
Due to his extensive training in internal medicine and family medicine, Dr. Barnes is committed to managing the whole patient. Experienced in numerous research projects and specialized in data interpretation, Dr. Barnes excels at applying complex research findings to individualized patient care. His focus is on outcomes that matter most to patients, such as survival and quality of life, while choosing therapies that balance benefits with manageable toxicity.
Dr. Barnes is married to Lauren Barnes, a local Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner. He enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and two daughters. An accomplished pianist, he performs both in the studio and live and enjoys playing music for church services. He has a passion for deep-sea and freshwater fishing, as well as wildlife and conservation efforts.
