Treatments

Because cancer affects different people in different ways, your doctors at Montgomery Cancer Center will develop a customized course of treatment specially designed to target your specific disease. The treatment may involve a single modality or a combination.

Chemotherapy circulates drugs in the bloodstream to eliminate cancer cells distant from the original site.

Immunotherapy uses the body's natural defenses against disease to kill cancer cells.

Radiation therapy uses laser technology to target a particular area with pinpoint accuracy.
Hormonal therapy blocks or prevents cancer cells from being exposed to hormones that cause them to grow.

Targeted therapy treats only the cancer cells and minimizes damage to normal, healthy cells.

High-dose chemotherapy (HDC) with stem cell transplantation (SCT) stem cells are collected prior to treatment and then infused to "rescue" bone marrow and hasten blood cell production and immune system recovery.

Clinical trials are essential for moving new methods of preventing, diagnosing, and treating cancer to improve the care and quality of life for people with cancer. Talk to your physician and click here to learn more about clinical trials.
